The Joy of Ageing
Why we need to embrace and enjoy the process of getting older
Yep, you read that right - the joy of ageing. We need to embrace and enjoy the process of getting older. I'm a firm believer that age is just a number and I'm on a mission to prove it.
I like to think we should make the most of it and enjoy every day. One of my clients is the perfect poster-child for this way of thinking. Helen, in her late seventies, never ever misses a class, holds a 2-minute perfect plank, and is always laughing. I asked her what her secret was, she answered “I don’t do old” - I love that!
Our bodies age quickly if we are sedentary, however, there's an easy fix - move more. Our minds age only if we let them. Having a positive mental attitude is essential. Staying social plays a huge part too. We are never too old to live, to learn, to love.
Personally, I am loving life in my 50’s, there are so many benefits to being older and wiser (I hope wiser!). My confidence only gets higher and higher as the days pass. I don’t stress the small stuff, actually, I don’t really stress the big stuff either these days. Life experience tells me that it all works out in the end. Grown-up children, now that is such a joy, I love being friends with my boys, and now they help me out, lifts to the airport, laying a patio, oh yeah and building Fabfit!
I'm physically and mentally at my strongest ever and I'm going to make sure that never changes. Just like Helen, I don’t do old either.
